Well, disaster has struck. My publisher has abruptly closed down. All of my books have been pulled from seller’s sites and are not available. I have no idea where I will go from here. The mere thought of attempting to re-publish 30 books, not to mention find new covers is beyond my comprehension and ability at this moment. I am off to have a good cry and then try to pick myself up from the rubble. : (
I’m so sorry this has happened to you! I love your work, and await every new release eagerly. I hope that things will look better after you’ve had a few days to get over the shock. Whether you go with self-publishing, or see if another publisher would like to re-release your backlist along with printing new titles, I wish you ease of mind, and smooth sailing. I know other authors who’ve had publishers close down have had luck with Nine Star Press and JMS Press, or self-publishing through Smashwords or Kobo. If you are able to self-publish your backlist, and put them on Kobo Plus, that might get you more exposure (which you thoroughly deserve)!
Please take all the time you need to make sure you are emotionally and mentally recovered from this; your well-being is the most important thing right now.
Thank you so much Jennifer! After much discussion with other authors and friends, I think I am going to take the self publishing route. Scary, scary stuff but I have some people walking me through it, so maybe…
Your comment meant a lot to me.
Oh God, I am so sorry. I had to deal with all my Dreamspinner books after their stunt, and I feel for you. I’m just so sorry.
Thank you! I am sorry you had to go through that with Dreamspinner. It just seems very uncertain out there now, so I am going to give Indie publishing a try, even though my knees are shaking!!
I was so disappointed to see that your books were gone from Amazon. I had to hunt out your website. I’m so sorry to see what happened, but so happy to hear that you are planning to self publish. I love your books, and I’m picking them up here and there as I can afford them. I don’t have nearly enough of them, because I don’t have them all yet! Lol! Best wishes for smooth sailing on the self publishing. You do have fans, who are excited to see the books come back!
One of the things I am hoping to achieve is to bring the price of my books down a bit. I really think that ebooks have got a little crazy in price.
The most I am charging now is $5.99 US. Maybe that will have to go up if the book is bigger. Maybe I am just being ridiculous trying to keep things reasonable, but…
I’m a reader as well as a writer. : P
I am very sorry to hear about your trouble.I love your books, and have read them many times. One time is not enough.I wish you all the best for your future and for many books to come from you.
Thank you so much! Re-reads are the biggest compliment a writer can receive. : )
I just want to get through this and get back with some new stories. Although, having to do all this editing is definitely making me want to work on some of my series.
Another Gaven book is peculating. I definitely want to have a third book in the Siren series. And a couple of stand alones are really nagging at me now.
